England: There were an estimated 110,000 new cases last week, compared with 100,000 the week before. 27 people have died.
Ireland: More than 500 cases were confirmed by GPs last week, although this is believed to be an underestimate of the true number.
Australia: A 22-year-old man from western Autralia became the country’s 54th confirmed death from H1N1. Vaccine trials have begun.
France: A teenage girl who had contracted swine flu but also suffered from another serious illness became the country’s first official death.
United States: The worst-hit country, with 263 confirmed deaths – mostly people with other underlying health problems.
