Hi all. I'm orignally from Palmerstown but living away now but all my family are still there and cannot believe what happened the other night.... My 19 year old brother was at the shell garage at 3am on Monday, after a night out, getting some crisps. when he got to the garage he saw a girl crying at the bus stop went up and asked her if she was ok but was told to F*** Off so he went to the shop and when he was coming out he saw her and four blokes walking towards him. He hailed a taxi and was just about to jump into it when he was punched in the face, the taxi sped off and my brother ran off towards the oval. He called 999 but just as he gave the details of what had happened the gang were upon him and proceded to beat him up, luckily he didn't fall to the ground and no knifes were used on him but all the same his face is very badly beaten, fractured cheekbone, broken nose and numerous cuts to his face and head... Now I know he shouldn't have been around there at that hour but all the same he didn't expect that to happen. He is a very quite lad and this is the first time anything like this has happened to him so as you can imagine he is very traumatised. The caught the five of them and have been charged but apparently these gangs are living in the village and are causing mayhem, on the same night they tried to burn out a neighbours car in the driveway and also robbed a car from the Avenue..... When has it become acceptable to have scum like that living here and causing so much trouble (they are not from the area but a staying at a premises in the village). I am in complete shock that this has happened and as you can imagine, very angry too... Thank God it wasn't worse...Just want to let people know that this is going on and no one is immune from this type of attack, they were as high as kites and would have attacked anyone they met, just happened to be my brother..

Hi Jessbud,
Sorry to hear bout your brother :( it seems to be a growing problem in Palmerstown. I feel that cameras should be put in the area specially around the garage and shopping centre area, as that is where these people seem to congragrate. I feel that this would be a deterrent and stop them hanging around the area. I myself was attacked one night outside the chipper but they got more than they bargained for as I fought back and they all legged it :( . I hope your brother is OK and that it doesn't deter him from going out at night and enjoying himself.

Thanks for your reply Bryner. I totally agree about there being cameras around certain areas. I'd say it'll be a while before he ventures out again, he is 6ft 2 and a he can't believe he couldn't take on five little runts. Have you heard anything about the junkies hanging around the village? seems to be becoming a big problem, especially for the people living on the Old Road.

I have heard that there does be a bit of trouble with them alright, but I don't see it as I live in woodfarm Acres ext and don't be down there much. There should be more police patrols in the area, which would make them move off somewhere else.

There defo should be more patrols although a place the size of palmerstown should have its own station. When my brother called 999 it was Rathcoole station that took the call as they were the only available unit. Now I cannot fault the guards but there definatley needs to be more of a presence in Palmerstown.

Hey Jessbus + Byrner,
Totally agree about the garda presence in P'town. Aparently last Thurs night there was a shooting in the villiage and 5 squad cars pulled up outside a certain business premises in the villiage and pulled a load of junkies out and arrested them - it didnt hit the news so what else is going on that we dont know about!!! Also 4 unmarked squad cars tore up turret road last night on their way up towards the villiage. My car was vandalised last week and since then I have been chatting to various people in the area about it and you wouldnt believe the amount of people who have stories about theft, break ins, beatings and valdalism in the last couple of months alone. I really dont know what the solution is but giving these people a taste of their own medicine springs to mind!:icon_yes::icon_headache:! Wouldnt you just love to!
Stay safe!

I think we should go to the papers and tell them of the troubles in the village and of the type of guests that certain business allows into its premises. see if we can't get them to clean up their act!!!

Papers are full of knife attacks and all kind of assaults and no one takes note :( what we need is good old fashioned policeing like foot patrols and some cameras in the area, that would sort them out. The only reason they are doing what they are is that they can get away with it, they know that if the police are notified that it will be about an hour before they respond, thats if they even bother to respond. All policing these days are against easy targets like motorists, when they should be against what seems to be a growing crime and getting worse ( Anti Social Behavour ) if the youths get away with it when they are young the next step is major crime, there should be a Zero Tolerance attitude adopted.

UGG Langley Soho Collection (http://www.fancyuggboots.com/ugg-women-5608-langley-soho-collectionsilt-p-578.html) boots can also be used all year, so it's definitely a better submit than plug many of the most notorious seats that you can participate

Thats terrible what happened to your brother Jessbud, I think I know the premises you are talking about too........
I know this post is old but I did hear there was a lot of mad stuff going on in Palmerstown on Halloween this year with the bonfire and all. I wasnt around myself so only heard it today. Talking to people in work it seemed to be one of the quitest Halloweens ever in their areas.
