Hi everyone,
On Sunday night last my car was in my parents driveway and a group of individuals totally vandalised it when their attempts to rob it failed. It has been completely written off due to the damage they have done and luckily the Gardai have lifted finger prints. I must say hats off to the Gardai - they responded really quickly and are doing a great job with the resources they have.
On the same night my brother in law, was attacked on his way home from a night out. He was in a taxi with his friends and they all got out on the dual carriage way to go their seperate ways home. He was badly beaten by 5 junkies who were later arrested by the Gardai. He was minding his own business, doing no harm. They didnt rob him, they just wanted a fight. They chased him, even after he got away from them and called the Gardai. Then they took his phone and beat him up again. It is believed that they are the same group that destroyed my car. That group were caught in posession of a stolen car a while later.
There seems to be a lot of junkies around the area lately and they seem to be associated with a certain business premises in near the foot bridge in the village. This particular premises seems to be attracting this type of clientele and it is to the detriment of the area and its residents. I am very worried for all locals, especially the eldery who are quite vulnerable. My brother in law is lucky they didnt pull a knife on him but I fear that it is only a matter of time before this happens to someone.
Has anyone got any suggestions as to what we can do to try to aleviate this problem?
I hope this doesnt occur again in our area but I'm affraid that is wishful thinking.

The only way I feel to tackle this is to do what they do in England. They should bring in the ASBO's (Anti Social Behavioral Orders) any one caught being anti social get's one and its the parents that have to deal with it or two strikes and they are out. I would also like to see camera's being put up in the area, if they know that they are being watched they are less likely to cause trouble.

There is NO word, "irregardless." The word is "regardless."

If it is "needless to say," then dont freakin SAY it.

"There" and "their" are two different words with two different meanings.

"Put the book there." In this case, "There" is a place.

Their car was stolen." "Their" indicates possession of an object.

This is a very serious matter and I do not appreciate you giving a grammer lesson and taking the mick out of the op. If it was your brother who got attacked I sure you would not like someone coming on here and making light of it. If there are any mistakes in my post you know what you can do with them.

More cops works. Cameras only work on people who cant afford sunglasses or hoodies.
