One of the big takeaways from Valve's Portal winning Game of the Year at the Game Developers Choice Awards during this year's Game Developers Conference was that storylines are once again returning to prominence in the industry. While that doesn't necessarily signal a renaissance of adventure games, the genre has seen a number of quality installments in recent years.
One such notable example is Funcom's Dreamfall: The Longest Journey, a sequel to GameSpot's Best Adventure Game of 2000. With the game originally seeing release in 2006 for the Xbox and PC, Microsoft has announced this week that Dreamfall will enter the digital age as a downloadable offering through Xbox Originals. Available next Monday, March 24, Dreamfall will clock in at the standard 1,200 Microsoft points ($15).
While Dreamfall shares a common universe and setting with its predecessor, the game follows a new heroine, Zoë Castillo. Maintaining the series' emphasis on story development and compelling characters, Dreamfall has players ciphering out a mystery of apocalyptic implications that transcends two parallel worlds in the 23rd century.
